CEO or Self-Employed

You decide it’s time.

It’s time you leave your job.

You have an idea you want to pursue.

You want to be able to control your own hours.

You want to start your own business.

You quit your job and start your business. You work hard to create income.

You deliver your products and services and get paid and you do it again.

And again.

And again.

You end up self-employed.

There is much more to owning a business than simply becoming self-employed. Business creation is not just about one job for one person. It’s about building a wealth creating asset that delivers value and employment for the owner and others.

It is not about creating a job for yourself. It is about creating a business.

At the start, you will be self-employed. Many of you will trade hours for dollars at the beginning. It’s OK. But, even in the beginning the decisions you make determine whether you are a CEO Entrepreneur or simply self- employed later on.

The self-employed have a job and it’s difficult – no holidays, no sick pay, no benefits.

Don’t end up this way.

If you’re self-employed, income is the whole point.

If you’re a business owner, it’s profit and positive cash flow to reinvest in the business, creating teams and the business eventually runs itself. A business owner is looking to scale and leverage.

A business owner works on the business rather than in it. The self-employed are likely too busy delivering products and services to be working on the business. They work in the business.

A true CEO has a plan for what the business could become, however small at the beginning.

Some concepts to be thinking about even at the beginning are:

Money Generating Activities

  • Sales
  • Cash Flow
  • Profit
  • Your Expertise
  • Results Delivered
  • Brand Awareness
  • Team Development
  • Relationship Building
  • Strategic Plans
  • Self Awareness

The most important concept to remember is you are a business owner first, not your title. When you can embody the concept of being a business owner instead of a health coach or a social media strategist or products you sell, however you deliver what you do, then you have become the CEO Entrepreneur.

So the question is are you self-employed or a CEO?
